How Family Businesses
FACE CHALLENGES.
While the effects and consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic are still present in our social and economic reality, family businesses are currently dealing with new uncertainties and challenges derived from geopolitical instabilities, rising energy costs, global supply chains disruptions, risks of stagflation, and many other stressors.
Under this complex context, Family Businesses face the challenge of re-gener@tion in many different spheres:
The global warming and urgency of environment preservation requires re-gener@ting perspectives in corporate governance practices for family firms and make professionalization more needed and urgent than never ever before;
Family firms need to re-gener@te their business models and effectively manage the innovation and change processes to adapt to the social, technical, and economic changes that we are witnessing all around the world;
At the same time business families will continue facing the never-ending challenge of renewing and re-gener@ting the family transgenerational entrepreneurship spirit, promoting new entrepreneurial initiatives (both at the corporate and the individual level) as well as developing practices for effective succession processes.
Re-gener@tion
CHALLENGES.
These re-gener@tion challenges involve every managerial area in organizations: each re-gener@tion process has, indeed, strategic implications (strategic repertories, strategic changes, organizational reconfigurations, long-term strategic consistency and dependences, strategic innovation…); requires strong efforts and strategic leadership; has governance implications, both in the family and in the firm, requires talent management and effective Top Management Teams; and more and more to incorporating digital technologies within the business models.
The STEP Project Global Consortium (SPGC) Global Family Business Summit aims to address these RE-GENER@TION challenges in a two-days forum targeted both to scholars interested in Family Business Research, and actors from the managerial practice (managers, owners, executives or any other experts).
The SPGC Global Family Business Summit 2023 intends to re-gener@te the relationships between practice and academia. This summit is conceived as a world-leading encounter where scholars and practitioners will talk and listen to each other, in a friendly and constructive climate, to propose, discuss and elaborate proposals aimed to help family firms and business families to challenge the re-gener@tion challenges that they are facing, and to achieve the highest levels of competitiveness, perdurability and socially responsible behavior.
Below a visual representation of the different directions the Regener@tion between Academia and Practice will take place during the Global Family Business Summit.
